The Pope County Health Unit will provide flu vaccines for RSD students. Sequoyah students will receive flu vaccines on Friday, October 18th from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Students must have a completed consent and FERPA form turned in to receive the flu vaccine. Students will not receive the flu vaccine if they do not have these forms on file. Forms have been sent home. If you are in need of a replacement form, please contact the office. Hurricane Michael made landfall near Mexico Beach on the Florida Panhandle as a Category 4 storm early Wednesday afternoon on Oct. 10, 2018. The storm’s heavy rain, high winds, and extreme storm surges caused massive destruction. Hurricane Michael was the first Category 4 storm in recorded history to make landfall in the northeast Gulf Coast. Join Sequoyah Elementary 3rd graders in gathering items to deliver to Hank’s Furniture Store to aid in the disaster relief. Together, we can all make a difference. We will collect October 29th- November 2nd at Sequoyah.

The G/T program is designed to serve high potential/high performing students who demonstrate above average intellectual ability, high task commitment, and above average creativity. RSD Announces Kindergarten Registration for 2018-19 School Year RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (April 2, 2018) -- Russellville School District will hold kindergarten registration on April 16-17, 2018, from 6-7 p.m. Registration for Crawford, Dwight, and Sequoyah elementary schools will be on April 16, and registration for Center Valley, London, and Oakland Heights elementary schools will be on April 17. State law requires children be five years of age on or before August 1, 2018, to enroll in kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year. Children should be registered in the attendance zone in which they live and should bring the following information to registration: an official copy of child’s birth certificate; guardianship papers, if you have been court-appointed as a legal guardian; immunization record; record of current physical examination by physician (children are required to have a physical exam before entering school); Social Security card; and ARKids First/Medicaid card (if applicable). In an effort to make strategic, data-driven decisions, Russellville School District has partnered with Hanover Research to conduct research projects for our district for one year. The 2018 School Climate Survey is the first survey Hanover will be conducting for our district. The district is requesting participation from parents and community members in this 10-minute anonymous survey. The results of the survey will be used to guide our improvement planning process, and we need your participation in our improvement endeavors. Sequoyah students did an awesome job bringing in coins for our All for Books Coin Challenge! Sequoyah kids met the challenge head on by donating $1,710 worth of coins! Scholastic will be matching this amount. Donations will be used to help another school in need by purchasing books and supplies.

Parents this Thursday is the Wild West Book Fair kickoff. Students may dress in western attire. Friday from 5:30-7:30 is the annual Sock Hop. Dr. Gotcher will host a Twitter Town Hall on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, from 6:30-8 p.m. on the social media platform Twitter. During the town hall, participants will have the opportunity to give feedback on three questions: what does RSD need to start doing, what does RSD need to stop doing, and what does RSD need to continue doing. The three questions will be released at different times throughout the evening on Dr. Gotcher’s Twitter account @mlgotcher. Participants are asked to use the hashtag #RSDListens when responding to the questions.

During the afternoon of Monday October 16th, the Russellville School District, in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), is providing the flu vaccine to students and staff. Flu packets will be sent home with students over the next several weeks. Please read, complete, and sign the ADH consent form (front and back) and the RSD FERPA form. Both forms must be returned to the school nurse in order for your child to receive the flu vaccine at the school flu clinic. Please contact your child’s school nurse if you have any questions.
